Hạ Long Bay, located in northeast Vietnam, is famous for its clear green waters and thousands of limestone islands covered with lush rainforests. Visitors can explore the bay by traditional junk boats or kayaks, passing by uniquely shaped islands like Stone Dog and Teapot.

The area offers a variety of outdoor activities, including scuba diving, rock climbing, and hiking—especially in the scenic Cát Bà National Park. Natural erosion has formed hidden lakes such as Ba Ham Lake on Đầu Bê Island, and there are hundreds of caves throughout the bay. Some caves feature hanging stalactites and even old French carvings from the 1800s. One of the most famous is Đầu Gỗ Cave, believed to be where General Trần Hưng Đạo hid wooden stakes used to defend Vietnam in the 13th century.

While many small islets are uninhabited and rocky, larger ones like Cát Bà and Tuần Châu host local communities and beach resorts. The bay is also home to floating fishing villages like Ba Hàng, where people live in houses built on wooden rafts.
